Ukraine has banned the social network “Vkontakte” and “Classmates” for a period of 3 years.
President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on new sanctions against Russia, which include the prohibition of access in Ukraine company resources Mail.ru and Russian social networks “Vkontakte” and “Odnoklassniki”, or sites of “Yandex”.
Poroshenko signed a decree №133/2017 about introduction in action of the decision of the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine of April 28, 2017 “On the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”. The decree will come into force from the day of its publication.
The national security Council had previously decided to extend the sanctions introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (order of April 26, 2017 No. 288-R), the security Service of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine.
“The ban Internet service providers from providing access to users of a network the Internet to resources services “Mail.ru” (www.mail.ru) and socially-oriented resources of “Vkontakte” (www.vk.com) and “Classmates” (www.ok.ru)”, – stated in the description of sanctions against Mail.ru.
Restrictive measures against the Russian company “Yandex”. Will be denied access to various services of the company “Yandex.Of cards” to “Yandex.Video”, as well as to resources, a web Analytics company. The sanctions were imposed against “Yandex. Ukraine” and company resources that are on the domain .ua.
The sanctions also imposed against Russian IT company ABBYY and “1C”.
The freezing of assets, ban on transactions and broadcasting also imposed against major Russian TV companies: “REN TV”, “NTV PLUS”, RBC, TNT, Zvezda.
The ban was imposed for three years, according to the document. In General, sanctions are imposed against 468 Russian companies and 1228 individuals.
The sanctions include, inter alia, freezing assets of companies, restrictions on trading, prevent the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, the suspension of the execution of economic and financial obligations, restriction or discontinuance of telecommunications services and use of telecommunication networks of General use, the prohibition of public procurement of goods, works.
Under the sanctions were various Russian companies that are relevant to aircraft construction, production of weapons, charities and non-profit organizations. Also under the sanctions were “daughters” of Russian banks in Ukraine. The sanctions list also shows some of the companies registered in Ukraine.
