Poroshenko explained the impossibility of completion of the ATO in 2014

According to Poroshenko, to complete the ATO in 2014 failed because of Russian intervention.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that to complete the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas region in 2014 has failed because of Russian intervention.

He said this in his annual message to the Verkhovna Rada.

“In the summer of 2014, the major part of Donbass managed to return under the sovereignty of Ukraine. Only the direct intervention of Russian troops with the use of modern equipment and weapons stopped the process of liberation. And ripped off a quick completion of the ATO, which prior to the invasion seemed quite possible,” – said the President.

He also stressed that in three years the Armed forces of Ukraine restored the combat capability, increased operational capacity and improved technical equipment.

“They have grown quantitatively and qualitatively, and this is the case, which say “born again,” – said Poroshenko.
