In the near future the Council of national security and defense will consider the concept of reforming of the security Service of Ukraine, said President Petro Poroshenko.
“Soon, the Council will consider the concept of reforming the SBU using best practices of countries-members of NATO. It is assumed that the individual functions of the SBU, are not inherent to classical security services, will gradually transferred to other law enforcement agencies”, – he said at the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the SBU.
“NABOO, the state Bureau of investigation, the national police will gradually go investigate some official crimes and crimes committed by organized criminal groups. SBU is and remains the main counter-intelligence organ of the state, and this component of the Service should be raised much higher, as required by the real external threats to Ukraine”, – said Poroshenko.
In his speech the President called it a matter of honor for all law enforcement agencies of Ukraine to solve the murder of the former Deputy of the state Duma of the Russian Federation Denis Boronenkov, journalist Pavel Sheremet and sabotage ardclach in balakliia.
“But not immune from mistakes, even those of intelligence, which has a history of not 25 but already a hundred years”, – said the head of state.
