Poroshenko thanked Merkel for efforts of Germany.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with German Chancellor Angela Merkel deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbas.
The meeting was held within participation of the President in the meeting of the world economic forum reported in a press-service of the head of state.
One of the main topics of conversation was the importance of the initiative of Ukraine on the deployment of a peacekeeping mission under the UN auspices that will facilitate the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Germany from 1 January 2019 was a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Poroshenko thanked Merkel for Germany’s efforts to minimize the risks of aggravation of the Russian situation in the Black and Azov seas, freedom of navigation in the region and the unconditional and immediate release of the Ukrainian seamen.
The leaders also discussed the prevention of Russian interference in presidential elections in Ukraine and risks for the energy security of the EU.
