The head of state Poroshenko also noted that kalapas of the European Union was to him the greatest tragedy.
President Petro Poroshenko said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to weaken and divide the EU.
He said this in an interview with Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
“Who does not benefit from the EU’s existence? France gets the benefit, just as Germany and the UK, despite the Brexit. Finland and the Finns also (benefit from EU membership – ed.). Russia sends activity to the weakening of the EU. Putin wants to undermine the trust and divide the EU, by exercising influence on a separate state,” he said.
Poroshenko also noted that kalapas of the European Union was to him the greatest tragedy.
“They say that Putin said that for him the collapse of the Soviet Union was the biggest tragedy of 90 years. For me it would be the collapse of the European Union”, – said the head of state.
