The Polish Ministry of Finance will allocate 130 million zlotys (€30 million) for construction along the border of Poland with Ukraine and Belarus fencing to prevent migration of wild boars.
This was announced by the Minister of agriculture Krzysztof Yurgel.
According to experts, the cause of African swine fever (ASF) in Poland was infected with the virus wild boars, coming to the territory of Belarus. The Minister of agriculture considers that the fence is needed despite the fact that in autumn the number of new foci of African swine fever should be significantly reduced, the most dangerous months, when the disease reaches a peak is June, July and August.
The official also recalled that, in accordance with the recent tightening of requirements and bio insurance, Polish hunting organization is required until 30 November to reduce the number of wild boars in the territory under the threat of the emergence of ASF, to 0.1 individuals per square kilometer.
