The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Poland believes that Ukraine still has not paid for the “Katyn crime”.
Today in Ukrainian-Polish relations there is the issue of retribution for the Katyn crime, said Vice-Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Bartosz Tsihotsky in comments to the Polish Agency (PAP).
However, he noted that the Polish Ministry of foreign Affairs has no shortage of ties with Ukrainian officials. “The Ukrainian side is not short of solutions that could contribute to progress in some bilateral issues, generally called historical dialogue,” said Tsihotsky.
“Those issues known to the Ukrainian side for many years. They appeared not during the current tenure of the Seimas. This use of language from Soviet times about the Polish occupation of (the Western Ukrainian lands). It and questions of Church property to the Roman Catholic community. This question thoughtless of rehabilitation or glorification of the UPA and the lack of retribution for the Katyn crime,” said Cichocki.
Probably, the politician was referring to the Polish-Ukrainian conflict in Volyn during the Second world war, but, the proviso, instead of “Volyn” told “Katyn”. Otherwise it is not clear how Ukraine should pay for the crime committed by the NKVD on the orders of Joseph Stalin, says “Historical truth”.
The Vice-Minister also referred to the decision of the Ukrainian side, which “negate our bilateral statements,” for example, the honoring of soldiers of the Carpathian Sich on Veretsky pass with participation of the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze. This homage, according to him, is the accusation of the poles in mass crimes in 1939.
Earlier the President Petro Poroshenko and President of Poland Andrzej Duda agreed to spend the next week in Krakow (Poland) extraordinary meeting of the Advisory Committee of the presidents of the two countries at the level of foreign advisers.
