Physicians suggest someone good to eat walnuts

In their new study, scientists have found that type II diabetes is much easier to keep under control, if the daily diet to include the “right” fats, such as those contained in walnuts.

The results of the study were published in the journal European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The work was undertaken by a team of scientists, led by Professor Linda Tapsell (Linda Tapsell) from the University of Wollongong, Australia.

In his article titled “Long-term effect of high consumption of polyunsaturated fat walnuts on metabolic indices in type II diabetes”, scientists from Australia have shown that walnuts can be very useful for people suffering from this type of diabetes. The study involved 50 people with excess weight suffering from non-insulin dependent kind of diabetes. They follow a specially designed diet that contains low amount of fat during the year. The result was that that group was given 30 grams of walnuts a day, have benefited from the consumption of “good fat” than those who just followed a diet low in fat.

Professor Linda Tapsell, who led the study, said that both groups were at a healthy diet low in saturated fat, however, the subjects who consumed the walnuts, get more unsaturated fats. The main effect was evident for the first three months of the experiment. “Walnuts also contain vitamin E and other components with antioxidant action. The group consuming walnuts improved insulin levels, and we believe that this is due to the presence of the right fats in the diet,” said Professor Tapsell. She noted that “balanced diet” is a more complicated concept than is commonly believed. “A diet low in fat is good for health, however, in our study, we showed that it is more beneficial to eat foods with the right fats, such as walnuts,” said she.

Professor Tapsell believes that its latest research confirms previous work carried out by its center, which emphasizes the benefits of eating healthy fats contained in walnuts, rich in polyunsaturated fats, omega oils and vitamins.
