Petro Poroshenko and Mike Pompeo interviewed

The Secretary of state congratulated the Ukrainian President on the successful beginning of the process of launching an anti-corruption court.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

During the meeting the parties endorsed the approach for the further countering Russian aggression and restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

It is noted that the approaches of the US policy towards Russia remain clear and sanctions against Moscow will remain, until the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea.

The two sides also discussed the issue of promotion of initiatives of deploying international peacekeepers of the UN in all areas of the occupied Donbass, including the return of control over the uncontrolled part of the border of Ukraine with Russia.

Attention was paid to the issue of release of Ukrainian hostages and political prisoners kept in Russia, in the occupied territories of Donbass and Crimea. Poroshenko said that Oleg Sentsov, who was convicted in Russia on hunger strike for 86 days.

“The parties also discussed topical issues of strengthening of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, in particular in the field of security and defence, and support progress of Kiev on the path of reforms, including in the framework of cooperation with the IMF”, − is spoken in the message of administration of the President.
