Tuesday, December 26, in the hub of the Russian city of St. Petersburg fell blue snow. Residents of St. Petersburg already actively spread in social networks videos and photos of unusual phenomena.
Russian media reported that employees of the Department of Rosprirodnadzor took away the snow for examination.
“The state inspectors of the Department of Rosprirodnadzor in the northwestern Federal district today, on December 26, worked in the pharmaceutical prospect in Saint-Petersburg. The reason for the operational check-out was prompted by complaints of local residents on the blue snow, which was covered with intrahouse territory, as well as the sidewalks of the pharmaceutical prospect”, – said the press service of the Department.
The experts, who arrived at the scene, confirmed the presence of blue snows and noted that in some places the snow had a purple hue.
The cause of the contamination and the substance, to give the snow a blue color, will set only after receiving the expert opinion, said the experts.

Experts stressed that “this is a local phenomenon, not associated with rainfall”.
