“People threatened layoffs”: Chubarov about “elections” in Crimea

"Людям грозят увольнениями": Чубаров о "выборах" в КрымуThe head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said that the Russian authorities are primarily interested in voter turnout.

At the election of the President of Russia, which the Kremlin on March 18, intends to hold in the annexed Crimea, Russian authorities on the Peninsula are primarily interested in voter turnout. This was stated by the Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov.

“The occupation authorities were prepared fully in order to write the results she needed at the time of the illegal action that they call “elections”. They are now concerned with only one segment of the campaign. This turnout to the polling stations. They don’t care how people will vote or even damage these papers. They need a picture at least more or less acceptable that they demonstrated to the world. And they will do it the morning of 18 March. At the same time, all the people who do not accept occupation, and the majority of them – they are now in the big reflection, because there is unprecedented pressure on people and threats of dismissal from work,” says Chubarov.

According to him, March 18, and March 16, 2014 (the date of the unrecognized world of the “referendum” in Crimea), “a significant number of people will be faced with a choice: save face or to bow his head.”

“I know that the vast majority of Crimean Tatars to bow will not” – said Chubarov.

As reported, the Ministry temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons of Ukraine has condemned the decision of the Russian occupation administration to conduct 18 March 2018 presidential elections on the temporarily occupied territories of Russia of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol and urged Crimeans to take part in the illegal presidential elections of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Peninsula.
