Passenger fares in Kyiv metro: appeared fresh details

This was stated by the head of KP “Kiev metro” Victor Bragin during the public discussion of increasing fares.

The meeting was also attended by members of the public Council under Kyiv city state administration, employees of “Kyivpastrans” and “Kiev underground”, the Department of economy and investments of Kyiv city state administration and all the residents of the capital.

Braginsky talked about the economic situation in the enterprise.

“The transport company is in a difficult position. In 2014 we were able to reduce the planned loss of business to 160 million, in 2015 – up to 115 million last year for the first time ended with a profit. But this year due to a sharp increase in electricity tariffs 4.6 times expected to finish the year with a loss of 600 million,” he said.

According to him, the cost of travel per passenger is 6,64 hryvnia, but with the introduction of a flexible system of discounts, the fare for travel will be from 3,87 UAH.

“We don’t just raise fares and introduce a flexible system of discounts. Thus, only the price of a single trip will be 5 USD. I want to ask the public to treat with understanding to such a forced step. If we don’t pay for electricity, we’ll shut it down” – said the head of the subway.

According to the Deputy head of the Main Department for price policy of Department of economy and investments of Kyiv city state administration Elena Strigeus, the project orders to increase the cost of travel has developed to save the transport company of the capital and to ensure the safety of transportation.

“While realizing the difficult situation can be Kiev, we have provided subsidies from the budget to cover the difference between the price and cost of travel, we also preserved all the benefits,” said the economist.
