Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy paruby signed previously adopted by the Parliament law “On education”.
“Today we launch a fundamental reform… I now sign the law of Ukraine “On education”, – said Parubiy at a briefing on Tuesday in Kyiv.
The Parliament speaker added that he signed the law on Tuesday will be transferred to the presidential Administration of Ukraine.
According to the Chairman of Parliament, according to the law, teaching in the Ukrainian schools will be conducted in the state language, “as in the entire European space, as in all civilized countries.”
He stressed that the law grants the right to study in their native language to members of national minorities and indigenous peoples.
The Parliament on 5 September endorsed the draft law No. 3491-d, which introduced 12-year education at school in 2027, and raise the minimum teachers ‘ salaries gradually until 2023.
The law provides that a full secondary education will last for 12 years and consist of primary education duration 4 years basic secondary education with duration of 5 years, which is obtained in the gymnasium, and specialized secondary education lasting 3 years.
Learning in school, children can start at 6 or 7 years (except for children with special educational needs).
The language of the educational process in educational institutions is the state language, but in accordance with the educational program can be taught one or more courses two or more languages – the state, in English, the other official languages of the European Union.
