Russian President Vladimir Putin will not take part in the meeting of the UN General Assembly. On Saturday, September 2, I reported a press-Putin’s Secretary Dmitry Peskov, is “not included in the plans” of the Russian President. Instead of Putin the Russian delegation at the General Assembly will be headed by the Minister of foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.
In 2016, Putin also did not attend the meeting of the main body of the UN.
Earlier intention to speak at a meeting of the UN General Assembly declared the President of the United States Donald trump. Trump, often critical of the UN, hopes to enlist General support for reforming the organization. It trump is expected on September 19. Two days later the participants will perform Sergei Lavrov.
The General Assembly is the main deliberative organ of the UN. In addition, members of the General Assembly take decisions on certain important issues, such as recommendations on peace and security, election of members of the UN Security Council.
