The researchers analyzed the results of the voting.
Scientists from the University of Central Florida (USA) came to the conclusion that the determining factor of the countries participating in the voting during the Eurovision song contest “Eurovision”, the final of which was held recently in Kiev, becoming the nationality of the performer, not the quality of his performances.
“Results for 60 years support the hypothesis of the existence of regional collusion and bias related to proximity (between countries. — Ed.) culture and other factors unacceptable in relation to the music that affect the outcome of a contest”, — says the publication experts.
To such conclusions scientists have analyzed the results of the voting between the countries-participants of “Eurovision”. These data experts have compared the cultural, national and geographical proximity of States to each other. In particular, it appears that Cyprus has traditionally supported Greece, and the Scandinavian countries — each other.
The event is considered the world’s largest competition of pop songs. Eurovision has often accused of “neighborly voting”, where countries with close cultural and historical ties choose each other.
