Over 70% of Russians believe that the interests of the authorities and society are not the same

The vast majority of Russians believe that the interests of the authorities and people are not the same, as officials and politicians almost never interested in life of ordinary citizens. This is evidenced by the results of the survey “Levada-center”, writes “Interfax”.

30% of respondents said that the interests of “definitely do not match”, 42% answered that the interests of “not coincide”. Their point of view, the respondents explain that “the authorities live at the expense of the population, they are a little worried of how people live”. Also people complain that between government officials and the public there is no feedback. According to the Russians, the coincidence of interests of the authorities and the people is possible only “in the critical periods when the country was in mortal danger”.

The survey was conducted from 24 to 30 October, it was attended by 1616 people from 50 regions of Russia.

 

Previous research of “Levada-center” showed that countries want to emigrate, 53% of young Russians. This figure peaked in 2009. Wishing to go abroad saying that things in Russia are going in the wrong direction, many are ashamed for what is happening in the country.

In April, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev acknowledged that life in Russia is “far from ideal, many people find it difficult, and some just survive.”

Real incomes of Russians are falling for the sixth consecutive year — since the annexation of Crimea and Western sanctions. By 2018, almost 20% of the population of the Russian Federation announced the reduction of salaries (data Ranepa), in 2019 one in four Russians has noticed the deterioration of their financial situation. For the last two years the number of citizens planning their future in the next five to six years, reduced from 17 to 11%. According to the latest statistics, the poverty line live in the country of 18.6 million people (12.7 percent of the population of Russia).
