One of the world’s most famous climbers died on Everest

Climber Ueli Steck, who during his incredible speed climbing was nicknamed the ”Swiss machine”, died during acclimatization on Everest.

According to the BBC, this time he was going to climb to the top of the mountain through a different route and without oxygen tanks.

Mountaineering Federation of Nepal reported that Steck, probably slipped. His body was found on Everest, after which the helicopter moved to the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu.

On Wednesday, the climber wrote on his page on Facebook, what a day it has risen to 7 thousand meters from the base camp and back, because they believed that “active acclimatization” is the best way of adjusting to high altitude.

In 2012, Steck’ve climbed Everest without oxygen, and in 2015 he won all 82 Alpine peak above 4 thousand meters in 62 days.

Ueli Steck has set several records for ultrafast single climb classic routes.

He also contributed to the popularization of mountaineering adventure through the movies made based on his climbing.

Stec was nicknamed the ”Swiss machine” for his ruthlessly methodical approach to business and superhuman endurance.

In 2015 he ascended to one of the most famous peaks in the world – the North face of the Eiger in 2 hours 47 minutes – an unthinkable result for the first climbers, which it took a few days.
