Most residents of South Ossetia called for the renaming.
According to the exit poll, the majority of citizens of the unrecognized South Ossetia (Georgia region) voted in a referendum for the introduction of equivalent names the State of Alania.
The poll was conducted by South Ossetian Autonomous nonprofit organization Academy of sociological analysis, it was attended by 2981 people.
It is noted that the initiative was supported by 81.5% of voters who took part in the vote, voted against the 18.5 percent.
Simultaneously with the referendum on the renaming of the “Republic” on April 9 in South Ossetia held a presidential election. According to the exit poll, the current head of the “state” Leonid Tibilov is gaining 45,8%, its main rival, Parliament speaker Anatoly Bibilov is 36.9%.
Thus, according to the law, must be appointed the second round of elections.
