“According to preliminary estimates, there is a minor damage in the form of fading caused by the offender in the barbaric transportation of paintings,” – said Kononov. According to him, the injuries are not critical and will be addressed by experts.
The Picture Of The “AI-Petri. Crimea” was abducted on the evening of 27 January with the exhibition Arkhip Kuindzhi, held in the Engineering building of the Tretyakov gallery. Criminal in the eyes of the visitors took the painting off the wall and drifted out of the gallery. The suspect was arrested the next day.
32-year-old Denis Chuprikov, the suspect in the theft of the painting, admitted that he decided to commit the crime to pay off debts. Initially he said he didn’t commit any crimes.
