The Department of motor vehicles of California has made changes in local legislation through which on the roads of this state, it will be possible to carry out tests of machines with Autonomous control systems without the pedals, steering, mirrors, and without a test driver’s.
The new rules will take effect no earlier than mid-2018. Now the document is in the process of public discussion, which will take 15 days and after it will be submitted for approval to the local authorities. Meanwhile, the Californian government will still issue permits, without which the tests of UAVs on public roads will be illegal.
The test will require information about where and when they plan to conduct the tests, how many times a person was forced to intervene in the management and what technical innovations were introduced in the test prototypes. Currently testing drones on the roads of California carried out 42 companies in the parks which there are a total of 285 machines with Autonomous control systems.
In this test the machine should present the person who in an emergency situation take over. Permission for such work in California has about a thousand people.
