On Enceladus might be life.
An international group of scientists found that Saturn’s moon Enceladus, there are all necessary for emergence of life conditions.
Researchers believe that, due to tidal movement under the icy crust of the satellite is warm water.
Judging from, on Saturn there is hydrothermal activity, which arises because of the tidal friction between water and the core of the moon. This, in turn, provides energy for hypothetical organisms.
“It is necessary to consider in more detail how the structure and composition of the rocky core of Enceladus may play a key role in creating the necessary energy,” says astrobiologist Gael Shoblu from the University of Nantes in France.
The researchers created a computer model that showed that tidal forces can heat the water inside the core of the satellite. This happens due to friction that occurs when circulation of fluid in porous rocks. The water temperature increases, and then it is released into space as ice geysers.
Assuming that the core of a celestial body permeated with pores, it can support hydrothermal activity in the underground oceans of the satellite for billions of years.
“Warm the global ocean, which exist several billion years would be a great place to live. After all, it took only about 640 million years of evolution of life on Earth, from microbe to mammals,” explains planetary scientist Monica Grady from the Open University in the UK.
