In the Odessa region, a mother with two young children almost two weeks lived in the open field, under the open sky. Looking for food in garbage cans, and water gathered from the sewer pipe. All this time local residents and volunteers were asked social services to take care of the family, but to no avail. Why and how they ended up on the street – journalists found out.
That in the field, under the open sky, lives a mother with two young children – volunteer Natalia Naumova learned from a resident of the nearby housing estate. And when they were looking for – I was horrified.
They lived under the open sky with alcoholics. The children slept on a mattress in a pile of dirty underwear and clothes,” says volunteer Natalia Naumova.
25-year-old Alla said: she’s not local, and to live with her daughters nowhere. The volunteer took them to his home. Then went to rehab. But the mother and children fled from there. Then Natalia began to ring city social services.
“I got to reception, I was redirected to the head, the silence did not answer, laid the blame at each other until I turned to his friend. And she already explained how to do that you need to find this mother, cause 102 patrol, and the patrol will report to social services – and they are required to respond”, – says Natalya Naumova.
Alla with her three-year Ira and Alina volunteers and uniforms found in the basement in the company of homeless people. Now a mother with her daughters at the children’s hospital. Doctors to them is not allowed, but say their condition is satisfactory. The girls are sociable, their development corresponds to age.
The girls ‘ mother said she used to rent a house in the village, but her owners were evicted. With children moved to Odessa – worked here as a janitor and seller in the market. But the money for rental housing is not enough. And so it proved in the field.
“Since childhood, nobody loves me, I since childhood as a foundling in one place to another. My older daughters father died and the youngest now lives with the other,” says homeless mother Alla Zabara.
“Today,” trying to figure out why city social services two weeks ignored the messages of the volunteers and helped a homeless mom with two small children? The answer is in the mayor’s office never received. And only after Alla the girls, the patrol was taken to the hospital, they were visited by social workers. Children promised to transfer to the orphanage, and mothers were given time to search for housing, otherwise threatened to deprive of the parental rights.
