Nokia is suing Apple

Restored Nokia sued Apple statements to the courts of the United States and Germany for patent infringement.

Nokia complaint was filed in the regional courts of düsseldorf, Mannheim and Munich in Germany and in the U.S. district court for the Eastern district of Texas.

Nokia owns thousands of patents in technology used in smartphones, tablets, computers and similar devices, said in a statement. Over the past 20 years, Nokia has invested more than €115 billion in research and is holder of three patent portfolios of intellectual property after buying NSN in 2013 and Alcatel-Lucent in 2016.

“Regularly investing in research and development of technology, Nokia has created or contributed to the development of many used mobile technology used in smartphones today, including Apple products. After several years of negotiations, during which we tried to reach agreement with Apple on the use of our patents, we decided to take action to protect our rights,” — said the head of the patent work of Ilkka Nokia Rahnasto.

In total, we are talking about violating 32 patents, including patents on the production technology of displays and technology development of the user interface and software.

According to the company, Apple’s latest agreement to use Nokia’s patents was signed in 2011. Since then, the American electronics manufacturer has turned down offers of Nokia on obtaining a license to use patented inventions of the company in the Apple products.
