The winners of the third season of the international competition of short film adaptations of Stephen king, which was organized by the Federal network of cinemas “the Monitor”, and the partner portal Area of Horror. Awards went to films from Uzbekistan, Poland and Russia.
Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen king the world competition of Amateur canadaplace king of horror. The first season of the competition was held in 2010. The second season took place in 2013 (in the framework of the international film festival “Dollar Baby Russia”). In the third season included 13 films from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Poland.
The winner of the main prize of the contest – Grand Prix “the Dark Tower” – determined by a professional jury, which included experts of direct relevance to the genre of horror and the works of Stephen king:
Maria Artemieva – the editor of the anthology of horror and mystery, Redrum, writer, author and editor of the series “the Dark side| urban legends”;
Dmitry Viter – writer, screenwriter, critic, editor of the film Studio “Free cinema”, co-author of the website about the scary movie klubkrik.ru author of horror, “Night swimmer” for its eponymous story (at the stage of pre-production);
Igor Garkushenko – Director, author of films “I am the doorway” (Grand Prix of the first contest season “Nightmares and Dreamscapes of Stephen king’s”), “the Man who loved flowers” and “Bar tookie” (2nd and 3rd second season of “Nightmares and Dreamscapes of Stephen king’s”), “Marapatsutsa” (participant of the competition program of the Cannes film festival 2017);
Sasha Domogarov Jr. – actor, film Director, “Suffer little children” on a story by Stephen king, a graduate of the Theatre Institute. Schepkin and Higher courses for scriptwriters and Directors (workshop of V. Khotinenko, P. Finn, V. Fenchenko);
Aleksandr Matyukhin is a writer, screenwriter, regular contributor to the horror series “the worst book”, prize-winner and finalist of Russian and international competitions of short stories in the horror genre, science-fiction and fantasy;
Stefano Dee – make-up artist make-up artist, head of the Studio props and costume Dee Fx.
Grand Prix “the Dark Tower” went to Karl Bozu (Uzbekistan) for the film “the Corporation “quit Smoking” (the short story).
Literally 1 point to the winner of the contest lost film Dareka of Kocurek (Poland) “a Psalm of paranoid” in the poem “the Curse of paranoid”.
In third place was the movie Igor Abidov street (Russia) “Ring” on the story “the Man who loved flowers”).
This is the first year the winner of the audience award was in the format of online voting. On the website partner of the contest “Zone of horror” has launched a battle for viewers ‘ votes. By a margin of just two votes won the film Maxim Semenov “Grandfather” story “Popsy”.

In the competition, and animated films based on works by Stephen king up to 30 minutes created in any language in any country of the world. If the film is not in Russian, the authors of the work must provide a copy of the film with Russian subtitles.
