The local government of new York will hold an emergency meeting after a resident of the Bronx died of infectious diseases leptospirosis, spread by rats.
According to local authorities, the disease was diagnosed from two residents of the Bronx, who now moved away from the disease.
“The disease can be serious, but it is treatable with readily available antibiotics,” reported the Department of health.
Employees of the Department shall take the necessary measures to combat the rodents. Doctors advise people in the Bronx to avoid concentrations of rats and to wash hands thoroughly. However, according to local residents, it is impossible everywhere “full of rats, not only in buildings, trains filled with them.”
It is noted that the level of concern is so great that the Red cross provided temporary housing for 8 families in the area.
