New Volkswagen Polo caught without camouflage

The car will get shorter overhangs front and rear and a longer wheelbase.

Volkswagen introduced the Polo final tests of the new generation. Photospin managed to shoot a novelty during road test with virtually no camouflage. Pictures of the car were posted by Motor1 edition. The official premiere of the machine will be held in the next few weeks. Serial production of the car starts next month.

The car will get shorter overhangs front and rear and a longer wheelbase. Also the car will be equipped with new wheels in the style of the Golf GTI and the exhaust system with two tailpipes. While it is unknown whether the novelty is available in three-door version of the body.

The driver will be available a new infotainment system with a large touchscreen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an auto Park Pilot. It is not excluded that the top model will complement the fully digital instrument panel.

The car will be built on a new platform MQB A0. Due to this, the Polo saloon will be much more spacious, and the machine weight is less. In the engine range of the new items will include a 1.0-litre petrol engine with three cylinders. The power of the motor will be about 65 horsepower. Will also be accessible version of this unit with a capacity of 75, 100 and 115 horsepower.

Customers will be offered a 1.5-liter unit with the recoil 130 and 150 horsepower. Among the diesel engines of 80-, 100 – and 110-horsepower engines. The motors will work in conjunction with five – and six-speed manual transmission. Optionally, customers will be offered a seven-speed robotic transmission.

Later will be presented and a sports version of the Volkswagen Polo GTI. This car will get a modified 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The capacity of the unit will be about 200 horsepower. To 100 km/h the vehicle can accelerate for 6 seconds. Also the car equip with sport suspension, aggressive bumpers and large wheels. One of the competitor of new items will be Ford Fiesta ST.

Next year Volkswagen will present a compact crossover based on the Polo of new generation. It is expected that the car will go on sale under the name T-Cross. The same name received concept that was first shown to the public at the Geneva motor show in March 2016. Assembly machines will establish the plant in Spain. The main competitors of the car is called the Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur and Opel Mokka.
