The creators of the sequel “Pacific rim” (Pacific Rim: Uprising) seriously expect to launch a project of a decent scale. Plans, as usual, enormous. And now it became known that the upcoming movie will receive an official comic book prequel.
Publisher “Legendary Comics” have announced a mini-series called “Pacific Rim Aftermath”. It will be just six issues, which will tell about Jake Pentecoste (in the film he was played by John Boyega). The script for the first issue was written by Cavan Scott, the role of the artist was made by rich Elson.
In the story the action will unfold in 2034 in Santa Monica. In the city, which not long ago was considered the jewel of the West Coast, a brand new world, shoots breaking out of the ashes of the war between giant robots and giant monsters. Here we are introduced to a new generation fighting for the survival of the people, including the son of Marshal Pentecost who is looking for answers to questions about the death of his legendary father. Also among the announced characters, techno-crime boss of the underground world known as the Fur King and Griffin, Jaeger pilot, exchanged peace for mafia work. And the creators promised some “mysterious but familiar figure”.
Neo-Noir setting, a street gang, dump Rangers and kaiju obsessed with people – well, it could be very interesting. The first issue of the comic will be on sale on 17 January 2018. But the film itself, as we will be 22 March 2018.
