Brand new Polestar showed their first child
New independent brand, Polestar, separated from Volvo finally showed its first model under the name “Project One”, which is a two-door coupe with seats, the Gran Tourer 2+2, equipped with a transmission “Electric Hybrid Performance” and a hybrid power plant, “outstanding” 600 HP of power and 1,000 Nm of torque.
As expected, One of the new Polestar is based on Volvo’s scalable platform SPA, and based on the concept Volvo Concept shown in 2013. But, according to the company, about 50 percent of the components are new and created by their own engineers. This is done in order to allocate the first child in a special coupe with a sporty style, high performance and uniqueness.
This car is equipped with Öhlins electronic suspension reacting to the road surface every two milliseconds, depending on the mode you are in. Another innovation, first used by Volvo Car Group — body made of carbon fiber that, compared with model S90, did auto 230 kg lighter and increased the torsional rigidity by 45 %, and also significantly lowered the center of gravity.
The rear axle is One Polestar is powered by two electric motors, which are equipped with system vectoring torque to balance the rotation of the wheels during cornering, and the front axle turns bi-turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine Drive-E.
The electric motors producing 218 HP of power and allow the engine to run on pure electricity 150 km, which is the largest range for the segment of hybrids. The weight distribution is 48:52. Brakes taken from Akebono and feature six-piston calipers and 400mm discs.
Start the car in production promise in mid-2019. This will be the only hybrid of the brand, all future Polestar will be pure electric vehicles, from the Tesla Model 3 rival larger machines in the style of an SUV. The car will be sold through the Internet on the subscription schema and dealerships Polestar Space.
