The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with the Secretary of state of the United States of America, Rex Tillerson, in which coordinate further steps for the deployment of international UN mission in the occupied part of the Donbass, including the uncontrolled sections of the Russian-Ukrainian border.
As the press service of the President, the parties expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the agreements reached between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States during their meeting in new York.
Poroshenko thanked Tillerson for the support of Ukraine during the ongoing Russian aggression.
In addition, the head of state noted the importance of sanctions against Russia and the leadership approaches the United States in this, noting that this is the only way to force the aggressor to return to the mainstream of international law, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.
The interlocutors also paid special attention to the issue of the release of hostages illegally detained in the occupied territories and in Russian jails, and noted the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the USA.
Separately during the talks discussed the issue of Ukraine’s progress on reforms. In particular, they noted the importance of health, education, pension reform and anti-corruption.
Tillerson informed Poroshenko about the purpose of the Weight Mitchell assistant Secretary of state for Europe and Eurasia and its plans in November to visit Ukraine for meetings with the Ukrainian authorities.
