The Russian Central election Commission banned Navalny to participate in elections of the President
The leader of the “Fund of struggle against corruption”, the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny will not be able to run for presidential elections in 2018.
As stated in the official statement of the Central election Commission of Russia, the reason was a conviction politician.
“In addition, according to available information, 8 February 2017 A. A. Navalny convicted under part 3 of article 33, part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation by 5 years of imprisonment with a fine of 500,000 rubles, while the penalty imposed is decided to consider conditional with a trial period 1 year 5 months (the sentence came into force)”, – stated in the message.
The document also States that the creation of a “headquarters” to support the Bulk is beyond the scope of the official election campaign, so as of now it is not maintained.
Recall that Navalny was detained on the afternoon of 12 June at the entrance of the house before the anti-corruption rally in Central Moscow. He was accused of disobedience to police officers, as well as re-violating the order of organizing mass events. He was arrested for 30 days.
