NATO increased defense spending

Some members of the Alliance last year began to increase their defence spending.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance members were receptive to the request of the Pentagon to increase spending on defense.

Is not a favor to US, but because they themselves believe that in the interests of Europe, and Canada to direct more funds to defense spending… Some NATO members have already started the increase of defence spending”, and in 2016 the increase reached 3.8 percent among the European allies and Canada – said Stoltenberg.

Stoltenberg also noted that after the statements of Mattis, a number of Ministers confirmed the previously reported commitments “to come out very soon to turn 2 percent of GDP, – said Stoltenberg.
