The NATO Secretary General said that relations with Moscow “not to be naive.”
Despite strained relations with Moscow, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for dialogue with Russia. He declared it in interview to the newspaper Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, published on Tuesday, November 6.
“We don’t want confrontation, but dialogue with Russia,” Stoltenberg said.
According to him, the West “you can’t be naive” and should “stick together before.”
“From German politicians such as Helmut Schmidt and Willy Brandt during the cold war we learned that Russia need to talk,” – said Stoltenberg.
He recalled that, despite the political tensions, the West allegedly manage to find a solution to the problems with Russia.
“The biggest danger to the world today is the unpredictability of international politics”, – said Stoltenberg.
According to the Secretary General of NATO, during the cold war, the West and the Eastern bloc were enemies to each other, but today calls “more complex”. “From European history we all learned that the costs of war much more than the price of peace,” – said Stoltenberg.
