NATO countries agreed on a plan for defense in cyberspace

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that cyber defence is part of NATO reaction to hybrid war.

“Today we approved an updated cyber security plan and plan of action on the use of cyberspace as an operational environment,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

He also added that cybersecurity is one of the most important priorities for the Alliance.

“Cyber defence is part of NATO reaction to hybrid war. Hacker attacks can hit our economy, transportation, communications networks and energy security,” – said the Secretary General of the block.

19 January 2017 Stoltenberg said that the number of hacker attacks on NATO networks in the past year increased by 60%.
