NATO calls for reform of the SBU

A new concept of security services, the Parliament will consider on 7 February.

NATO expects that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the near future to approve the concept of reform of the SBU. This was stated by the representative of the diplomatic representative of NATO in Ukraine Alexander Vinnikov at a briefing on Monday, 6 February.

“Key NATO standard is the civil dimension of control and supervision. This is a key priority in terms of our cooperation with Ukraine. The cooperation that we have with the SBU, is very valuable and it led to results. This is the concept of the reform of the SBU, which was completed in July last year. NATO expects the adoption of this concept by the President in the near future,” said Vinnikov.

According to him, the reform provides for the creation of new mechanisms, the international experience was discussed with representatives of the SBU. In particular, the basis describes the experience of Norway.
