The surface of the red planet was covered with snow of carbon dioxide.
NASA announced the winter on Mars, when the planet’s surface was covered with a snow of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere turns to dry ice when the temperature drops to minus 125 degrees Celsius. The photos were published on the Agency’s website.
The series of images was sent to Earth by the automatic station Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
“The station Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter with its powerful cameras and spectrometers made a detailed survey of winter landscapes on the red planet”, – the experts of NASA.
It is reported that with the advent on Mars “spring” the dry ice will gradually begin to crack and evaporate. Because of this, the face of the planet will change again. At the same time at the South pole of Mars, the temperature is kept throughout the year, causing winter there lasts all the time.
