NASA plans to send a woman to the moon

The mission has already received the name “Artemis”.

The space Agency NASA continues to tell details about the upcoming mission at the space flight. It is known that in 2024, the Agency wants to land on the moon two astronauts. Interestingly, the astronauts will both sexes – a man and a woman.

As reported by the Verge, this is the first time in the history of the moon can step in women.

The mission has already received the name “Artemis” because of gender equality (the goddess Artemis was sister of Apollo and the patroness of the moon).

As explained in the Agency, from 1961 to 1975 on the moon landed only men. So now the situation needs to be changed.

“It is very symbolic: 50 years after “Apollo” program “Artemis” will land on the moon following the crew with a woman on Board. I have an 11-year-old daughter and I want her to inherit women who conquered the moon”, – said the Director of NASA, Jim Bridgestar.

Now the Agency will design a rocket and capsule for the crew. You also need to attract hardware for lunar exploration and technology for human survival in space. To do this, NASA wants to attract public funds.

By the way, President Donald trump said earlier that the budget of the USA on Aeronautics and research of outer space and allocated an additional $ 1.6 billion to explore the moon and Mars.
