Deposits on the surface valleys could be formed by water.
NASA published a picture of a Martian valley of the Uzboy, which you can see layered sediments that covered the surface area of the planet. The picture was published on the Agency’s website.
The deposits could have formed in water that filled the valley in a short period of time when she was temporarily blocked from the North.
Formed a new lake, which gradually increased in size, in the end, water flowed over the shaft of the crater and blurred the surrounding area, forming layers that are visible today.
Deposits, consisting of these layers have large size, it is assumed that they were formed by fast water flows.
