The titles went to Japanese, South Korean and European models.
Just this year Euro NCAP has tested 18 new passenger cars and four models belonging to the class of “heavy Quad”. In 2016, the tests were conducted under the new rules, according to which in the final report include the results of tests of emergency braking systems in front of pedestrians.
In addition, Euro NCAP has introduced the so-called “double rating”, allowing the automakers to provide for testing two versions — basic and equipped with a full set of available security systems.
In class “Large family car” won a hybrid Toyota Prius next generation. In Euro NCAP noted that the model is already “in the database” feature package “Toyota Safety Sense” providing for a system of prevention of frontal collisions, with the possibility of recognition of pedestrians.

The victory in the category “Small family car” went to the Hyundai Ioniq. Euro NCAP tested only the hybrid modification of the model, however, that the results apply to a fully electric version of Ioniq.
Finally, the title of “the safest small SUV” went to the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover of the second generation. Experts also noted “excellent” results of a new Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The sedan was unable to award the victory in the category “Executive car”, since “tails” was the only model in this class that Euro NCAP tested this year.
In addition, not yet named winners in the categories of “Large coupe”, “Midget car”, “Van”, “Small van” and “Car”.
