German scientists came to the conclusion that Jupiter can be called the oldest planet in the Solar system.
Experts suggest that the core of giant gas planets were formed a million years after the formation of the Sun.
According to astronomers, at the moment of its formation Jupiter weighed twenty times more than the Earth. Today its mass is 318 times the weight of our planet.
Their findings, German scientists made on the basis of data obtained by the spacecraft Juno. This probe was launched from Earth in 2011, and reached Jupiter last summer.
