Most mined territories in the Donbas are located near the village of Lugansk, Kramatorsk, Slavyansk and Mariupol, said the representative of the British charity organization for mine clearance HALO Trust Yuri Shahramanyan.
“According to studies, the greatest number of mines located in the 15-kilometer area near Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Slavyansk and Luhansk. In addition, there’s a lot of unexploded shells,” he said during the 2nd International conference on civil-military cooperation, Interfax-Ukraine.
The representative HALO Trust reported that the collection of data on mined territories is complicated by ongoing fighting.
According to Shahramanyan, this year the organization, in addition to assistance for mine clearance, will also conduct 60 training of Ukrainian specialists.
