First place in the ranking of the largest automobile club of Europe ADAC took the electric car BMW i3.
The largest automobile club ADAC in Europe 13 times tested the cars on their environmental impact. This year, experts have tightened the tests. In particular, the test vehicles are not only in the specialized laboratory, but also on public roads. Such measures as the experts went for the diesel in the Volkswagen scandal.
In total, the trials involved 45 cars. During the tests the cars were awarded a rating from one to five stars. First place in the ranking took the electric car BMW i3. This year the car was equipped with a battery of increased capacity (Ah 94). Without recharging this electric car can travel up to 300 kilometers.
This is followed by the Toyota Prius 1,8 Hybrid Executive and Nissan Leaf Acenta. These cars scored the same number of points and divided between second and third place.
In motion hybrid hatchback Prius leads the power plant consisting of a petrol 1.8-liter engine and electric motor producing 73 horsepower. Electricity Prius can drive up to 48 km, reaching speeds of 130 km per hour. Under the hood Leaf Acenta installed 110-horsepower electric motor that enables the model to accelerate to 144 km per hour. The power reserve on a full charge is about 250 kilometers.
Fourth place in the ranking of ADAC left for the Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI G-TEC Style that works on gas. On the fifth and sixth line – the hybrid Toyota Yaris Hybride Style and electric car Tesla Model S P90D, respectively.
The top ten also hit two cars with diesel engines. Mercedes E220 d and the BMW 118d finished in seventh and ninth place. Also in the top 10 were two cars with petrol engines: Mitsubishi Space Star 1,2 ClearTec (eighth place), Volkswagen up! 1,0 TSI BMT beats (the tenth line).
The most polluting car of the rating recognized the SsangYong Korando crossover. This model is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine, 147 horsepower. However, in 2019, the Korean company plans to introduce a new generation SUVs that will get a fully electric version.
