British scientist Coventry University Matthew Blackett named the five most dangerous volcanoes of our planet. The researcher notes that the eruption of each of them fraught with the death of thousands of people.
In the “black list” were active volcanoes Vesuvius in Italy, Nyiragongo in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Popocatepetl in Mexico, Krakatau in Indonesia and baekdu in North Korea.
Starting in 1600, these volcanoes have resulted in the loss of about 280 thousand people. So, in 1883 the volcano of Krakatoa was the cause of the tsunami that claimed the lives of 36 thousand people.
The scientist also noted that since the 1980s, the death rate from volcanoes is gradually reduced. However, he sees this not increased the willingness of the person to disasters, and accidental causes.
