The experts found that recovered patients sat on a strict diet on average after 2.7 years after diagnosis, and those who failed to overcome illness – after 3.8 years.
The authors of the study concluded that the longer the illness, the less likely the remission. Three years later, beta-cells lose their ability to heal, and diabetes goes chronic.
