Researchers at the University of Texas conducted an experiment to see what a positive effect on the liver — the low-carb or low-calorie diet.
The experiment involved patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Within 2 weeks the participants of the 1st group reduced the ration to 20 grams of carbohydrates a day, and 2nd- to 1500 kcal and 1200 kcal for men and women respectively.
Low-carb diet had enhanced weight loss and low calorie loss of liver fat. Weight reduction is the most effective mechanism to combat diseases of the liver, so the experts call a low-carb diet more effective.
