Named cities on the planet with the dirtiest air. Photo

There is simply nothing else to breathe.

Air pollution kills nearly 3.3 million people per year. Scientists say that by 2050 this number will double. The conclusions are based on the number content in the air of particulate matter, abbreviated PM 2.5. The figure here indicates the particle diameter in microns. These particles contain soot, smoke and exhaust gases, causing long-term health problems such as asthma and chronic lung disease.

Unfortunately, the level of air pollution today is still a little worried about the governments of most countries on the world map. Life expectancy in some cities is decreasing from year to year — but the local population usually have nowhere to go. Today the leaders of the “air rating” are these 7 cities of the world where to breathe in a literal sense, almost nothing.

Lucknow

India

Lucknow, a town in Northern India, begins our list. The people here breathe a terrible mixture of exhaust and factory waste. A huge number of vehicles virtually not regulated by law, exacerbates the problem.

Khorramabad

Iran

One of the most populous cities of Iran, Khorramabad is the center of agriculture for the whole country. Probably this is the main reason why experts find the local air almost unbreathable. The mortality rate here is almost 3.5 times higher than the national average.

Rawalpindi

Pakistan

Rawalpindi, the sister city of Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. The lack of a coherent public transport system led to the collapse of production and operation of private cars. As a result, the amount of exhaust here goes beyond all reasonable limits. However, at the end of this year the government is going to start the construction of the metro that should somehow solve the problem.

Raipur

India

This city is located in Central India: it is not as great as previous policies of our list, but the air pollution here is off the charts. The reason researchers see several core enterprises for the production of steel and aluminum.

Gwalior

India

The abundance of Indian cities in this listing should be alerted fans of healthy recreation in the region. Gwalior is contaminated so that here are struggling to escape even the locals. The government has not taken any measures to improve the situation.

Patna

India

Patna, the second largest city in the Eastern part of India, is one of the main agricultural centers of the country. Irrational use of electricity, the abundance of private vehicles and the number of industries on the periphery make the air Patna almost unfit for breathing.

Beijing

China

And completes our list of the majestic Beijing. This photo was taken in February last year — and most of the time, the air in here looks that way.
