There are various traditions to determine the start of Ramadan.
Sunday, may 5, at sunset the Muslims starts the Holy month of Ramadan.
“Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan,” – said in the message.
Formally, it comes with the appearance in the sky of a new month, but the month may not be visible from behind the clouds, and in this case, the Islamic clergy can make a decision on the postponement of the start of the Holy month on a different day, respectively, and later celebrated a feast day.
On this day millions of Muslims start to read a special prayer called Tarawih, which then continues throughout the Holy month.
Ramadan is a period of intense spirituality, when believers are surrounded by angels, and the blessing and mercy of Allah in abundance.
Ramadan also requires Muslims to adhere to a strict fasting. The Holy month ends with Eid al-Adha on 5 June.
From fasting in Ramadan exempt children, pregnant and lactating women, the sick, the elderly, and travelers.
