Head of SpaceX expects the first flight of the new spacecraft designed for exploration of the red planet in 2019.
The founder of SpaceX Elon Musk has stated that his ship for flight to Mars for the first time rises into the air in the first half of 2019. He said this during the session of questions and answers during the annual festival of technology and culture in Austin, Texas.
“We are building an interplanetary ship that will be able to make short flights from the first half of next year. Although sometimes set my time frame a little… you know” he said with a laugh, alluding to the appeared information that SpaceX does not have time to run the global Internet Starlink by 2022.
It is expected that the missile system SpaceX BFR (Big Falcon Rocket) will be fully reusable. The flight will be cheaper than the initial launches of the Falcon 1, Musk has estimated in the range of five to six million dollars. BFR includes reusable super-heavy rocket and manned spacecraft, containing about a hundred people. On low reference orbit rocket BFR is able to bring 150 tons.
In September 2017 Musk jokingly called this media Big Fucking Rocket. Then it became known about SpaceX plans to send to 2022 two trucks to Mars, whereas the 2024-th, it is expected from four missions — two freight and two manned. The ultimate goal of SpaceX is planting the seed for deployment on Mars human colony.
