Moldova made a loud statement on Russian troops

Moldova requests to add to the agenda of the 72nd session of the General Assembly the item “About the withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova”. The Prime Minister-the Minister Pavel Filip has called on all members to support the request of the Moldovan state.

Moldova insists on the withdrawal of Russian troops and armaments from the territory of the Republic, Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip during his speech at the meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations. It is reported by the UN news Center.
Filip said that Moldova asks to add to the agenda of the 72nd session of the General Assembly new item “for the withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova”, and called on all members to support his “legitimate request”.

“Despite our expectations, the Russian Federation has still not withdrawn its military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova, as required by its international obligations and in accordance with how it was foreseen in the Moldovan-Russian agreement on a cease-fire of July 1992, the Moldovan-Russian agreement of October 1994, as well as in relevant OSCE documents, in particular in the political Declaration adopted at the OSCE summit in Istanbul in 1999,” said the Moldovan Prime Minister.

According to him, the military exercises, which Russia regularly conducts in Transnistria with the participation of the armed forces “separatist regime” in Tiraspol, pose a threat to Moldova.

Philip added that, according to the OSCE report, in the warehouses of Russian troops stored more than 21 thousand tons of weapons and ammunition. Despite the fact that they are on the territory of Moldova, its authorities do not have any control over these munitions, but because the Republic was unable to fulfil his obligations under the several international conventions on disarmament.

In 1990, Transnistria declared the sovereignty of Moldova, but the international community the independence of the region is not recognized. Autonomy demanded of the inhabitants of this region. In the mid-90s in Transnistria was officially introduced the contingent of Russian peacekeeping forces.

Moldova has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory.
