The head of the European democracy Federica Mogherini stated that he is not embarrassed by the behavior of a group of deputies staged a noise during her speech in the Parliament of Serbia.
Deputies of the Serbian opposition on Friday during a speech Mogherini were noisy, banging on tables and chanting “Serbia Russia, we don’t need the EU!”.
“Several times I’ve been in difficult situations in Parliament and not be naive — it is a question of policy. I believe that maybe some of my interlocutors not prepared for the fact that I can take such a political confrontation. It is the policy. Hard to be rude to the woman, but such is the political environment and the manifestation of the different approaches to the way in which up of Serbia”, — said Mogherini reporters after talks with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
She expressed the hope that the message about the European path of Serbia, which wanted to convey, was heard in Parliament, despite the noise. “The message I want to convey, and I hope you can hear him despite the noise in Parliament, it is what we are aware that Serbia has opted for the path to the European Union, and we believe that the above policies of individual parties, and that it is in the interests of the Serbian people”, — said Mogherini.
Vucic, for his part, expressed regret in connection with the incident in Parliament, saying that MPs have the right to Express their will in any way, but in this case it was possible to do it differently and more decent.
Mogherini is on a visit in a tour of the countries of the Balkan region. In particular, on Wednesday she addressed a half-empty Parliament of Montenegro, as the opposition refused to break the boycott of the visit of the parliamentary session.
