Merkel urged Russia to fulfill the Minsk agreements

Merkel called the condition for the normal negotiations with Russia on Donbass.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the implementation of the Minsk agreements is a condition of return to a normal dialogue with Russia.

She stated that she believes it is important to maintain contact with Russia to ensure total security, but implementation of the Minsk agreements is an important condition of full negotiations.

“From the point of view of European security policy and defence we need to make every effort to improve their negotiating contacts. This includes, however, also the implementation of the Minsk agreements. If it succeeds, then we will be time to once again to lead a more active and intense negotiations,” said Merkel.

She added that it is always urged not to abandon the dialogue with Russia, in particular between NATO and the Russian Federation.
